The name LOOP signifies our belief that all things on Earth
operate in a closed-loop system.
We respect this by creating organic cotton products that have as
little impact on the environment as possible.
Our organic cotton sheets and towels
use only certified organic cotton and no harmful chemicals. For
example, gentle hydrogen-peroxide is used for whitening, and low-impact
dyes are used for colors, so there is no toxic waste from the manufacturing
process.

The ‘all natural’ image of cotton is very misleading,
since cotton production uses billions of pounds of harmful
chemicals each year – second only to corn. According
to the EPA, the pesticides used to grow cotton are some of the most
deadly.
Once the cotton is grown, textile production and finishing uses
an array of toxic and cancer-causing chemicals including arsenic,
formaldehyde and heavy-metal dyes.

Facts about conventional cotton:
Uses 2.03 billion pounds of synthetic fertilizers per year
Uses 25% of
the world’s insecticides
Uses 84 million
pounds of pesticides per year

These chemicals make their way back into our food chain; through
the cottonseed that is used to feed dairy and beef cattle, through
cottonseed oil commonly used in snack foods, and into the groundwater
many rely on for drinking.
